We are looking for an Energy Trading Analyst to lead the analytical function across Australia’s east coast energy markets. In this high-impact role, you will be responsible for price forecasting, market analytics, and valuation to support our Trading and Origination teams. You will work closely with teams in Europe and Singapore, leveraging data and insights to unlock opportunities in a fast-moving power market.

Your journey as an Energy Trading Analyst

As part of our APAC Trading team, you will manage InCommodities’ Australia analytics across the east coast energy markets. You will have full ownership of forecasting engines, play a key role in commercial strategy, and collaborate across regions. We embrace a steep learning curve and a learning-by-doing approach - ideal for someone curious, data-driven, and commercially minded.

Responsibilities - you will:

Price Forecasting & Modelling

  • Build analytical and stack pricing models using Python, SQL, Power BI
  • Develop and maintain fundamental forecasting engines for ASX Futures and structured products
  • Deliver short- and long-term price forecasts using models and market intelligence (including gas, constraints, and predictive analytics)

Spot & Forward Market Analytics

  • Produce and manage daily spot market reports, with focus on rebidding, participant behaviour, and transmission constraints
  • Identify short-term trading opportunities through ongoing analysis

Valuation & Deal Support

  • Contribute to tool/platform development for strategy and decision-making (e.g., SRA, options, caps/swaps)
  • Support PPA valuation, procurement, and site-specific analysis (losses, congestion, constraints)

Collaboration & Integration

  • Work with EU and Singapore teams on weather and fundamentals analysis
  • Travel occasionally to Singapore for team integration, collaboration and simply to have fun!
  • Share knowledge to foster teamwork, motivation, and continuous improvement

What we are looking for:

  • 5+ years of solid analytical experience in energy markets
  • Proven experience with NEM price forecasting
  • Proficiency in Python, SQL, and BI tools (e.g., Power BI)
  • Exposure to NEMPy highly regarded; experience with PLEXOS or Prophet a plus
  • Understanding of constraint equations, transmission modelling, and valuation
  • Great communication and cross-functional collaboration skills
  • Ability to work independently and take ownership of deliverables
