Rethinking Legal & Compliance in EnergyTech

We’re not your average trading company. We’re on a mission to rethink how energy and technology come together to create a simpler, smarter, and more sustainable trading ecosystem.

As our Legal & Compliance Counsel in APAC, you’ll play a key role in building and strengthening the legal and compliance foundation that allows our business to grow confidently across markets and products.

You’ll act as a trusted advisor to the trading desks and leadership team - balancing commercial ambition with sound legal judgment - and helping us navigate an evolving regulatory landscape across APAC.

What you’ll do

Policy & Governance

  • Develop, implement, and continuously improve legal and compliance frameworks, policies, and procedures that align with our commercial strategy
  • Ensure compliance with all applicable laws, regulations, and industry standards across APAC

Advisory & Business Partnering

  • Provide timely, pragmatic, and commercially focused legal advice to trading and functional teams across the region - especially in Japan, New Zealand, and Australia
  • Advise on regulatory and compliance matters, ensuring we stay aligned with evolving market requirements

Contract Management

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a broad range of energy trading-related contracts, including ISDA Master Agreements and other industry-standard documentation
  • Support the structuring and negotiation of new business initiatives and transactions

Regulatory Monitoring & Risk Management

  • Conduct horizon scanning to anticipate legal and regulatory changes - assessing their potential impact on our business activities
  • Proactively identify and manage legal and compliance risks, escalating issues where appropriate
  • Develop and deliver engaging training sessions on key legal and compliance topics

Collaboration & Relationship Buildin

  • Partner with internal stakeholders to embed legal and compliance considerations into everyday decision-making
  • Build strong, constructive relationships with regulators, external counsel, and other industry stakeholders

Your team

You’ll join a growing APAC organization that blends entrepreneurial spirit with the backing of a strong global business. Collaboration is in our DNA - you’ll work closely with traders, commercial leads, and the wider Legal & Compliance team across regions to ensure our frameworks are both compliant and commercially agile.

We’re all about teamwork, transparency, and building an environment where legal isn’t seen as a blocker - but as an enabler of smart, responsible growth.

What you bring

  • A law degree and admission to practice in a relevant jurisdiction (e.g., Singapore, Australia, New Zealand, or another common-law country)
  • Ideally 6-9+ years of experience in energy trading, commodities, or financial services law, with exposure to APAC markets
  • Strong knowledge of energy trading law, regulation, and compliance frameworks
  • Proven ability to interpret complex regulations and turn them into clear, actionable guidance
  • Excellent drafting, negotiation, and communication skills
  • Strong business acumen - balancing legal risk with commercial opportunity
  • A proactive, solution-oriented mindset and a collaborative approach
  • Comfort working across multiple jurisdictions and cultures

What you can expect

You’ll be part of an ambitious, down-to-earth, and people-driven culture where trust and autonomy go hand in hand. We value fresh thinking, honest dialogue, and the ability to turn complexity into clarity.

Here, you’ll get the chance to shape how Legal & Compliance operates in a fast-evolving region — and you’ll do it alongside colleagues who care as much about people as they do about performance.

We value a strong social community with frequent events outside the office. The work culture is relaxed; you don’t have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy, so you won’t be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes.

Our core values - honesty, transparency, and rethinking - are fundamental to how we engage with each other. And as for rethinking, it’s deeply rooted in our DNA, pushing us to challenge status quo and continuously develop and innovate.

In other words, InCommodities is not your average workplace – it’s awesome.
