Would you like to help build a legal team that’s key to realizing our commercial ambitions? Do you thrive in a dynamic, fast-paced environment where your legal expertise can help drive the renewable energy transition? If so, we have an exciting opportunity for you as our new Legal Counsel!
We’re looking for a Legal Counsel to join our growing Legal team – Asset Management. Your primary focus will be to identify and mitigate legal risks, particularly through contract drafting and negotiation. You’ll ensure compliance with applicable laws and regulations by monitoring legal developments and drafting and implementing policies.
You’ll also help build a scalable, high quality legal framework to support our business, and acting as a trusted advisor on a wide range of legal matters – from standard to bespoke energy trading contracts and beyond.
Be part of our growth journey in Asset Management
In 2022, we established a dedicated Asset Management (AM) team at our headquarters in Aarhus, Denmark, with a bold mission: to help drive the green transition by making renewable energy investments bankable and attractive. Specializing in Power Purchase Agreements (PPAs), we support renewable energy owners and producers in optimizing revenues, mitigating risks, and securing stable returns.
Today, InCommodities Asset Management is an independent, autonomous company with more than 25 people across the entire value chain - from IT and Data Science to Portfolio and Contract Managers, Finance, Legal, and People & Culture.
What you’ll do
You’ll join our Legal team – currently consisting of our Head of Legal – and play a key role in shaping it during this early growth phase. You’ll collaborate closely with stakeholders across the organization, supporting decision-making with strong legal risk management.
We’ll provide a thorough introduction to our business and products, so you’re equipped to take ownership from day one. With a high degree of autonomy and responsibility, you can expect a steep learning curve and broad exposure to legal work in energy trading - all while enjoying flexibility that supports a healthy work-life balance.
Your day-to-day will include:
- Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating energy trading-related contracts (primarily, but not exclusively)
- Providing legal advice on a broad range of energy trading-related topics
- Conducting horizon scanning to identify legal risks and upcoming legislative changes
- Analyzing the impact of new legislation and communicating it clearly across the business
- Collaborating within the Legal team and across departments to establish sound legal risk management practices
- Actively contributing to the development and optimization of our legal service processes and projects
What you bring
- Master’s degree in law (cand.jur or cand.merc.jur)
- 2-3 years of experience in a law firm or in-house legal department (experience in the energy industry is an advantage but not a requirement)
- Experience drafting and negotiation contracts
- Fluency in English (spoken and written); German is a plus but not a must
How you work
- You’re eager to develop a strong commercial understanding of our business and have a positive, can-do attitude
- You can navigate a complex industry, engage with multiple stakeholders, and work with both EU and global legal frameworks
- You’re structured, efficient and able to prioritize effectively to deliver value
- You’re self-driven and comfortable working independently under pressure and tight deadlines
- You’re a clear communicator and confident in sharing your opinion, knowledge, and legal advice clearly
- You have a keen interest in continuous learning and development
- You’re a team player who will do what is best for the team and InCommodities
What you can expect from us:
- A steep learning curve with a great balance of responsibility, autonomy and sparring
- The opportunity to develop both professionally and personally
- Exceptional colleagues who are bold, honest, ambitious, and the smartest in their field
- A unique company culture where we live up to our values: Honesty, Transparency, and Rethink, and where you do not have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy, so you will not be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes
