Rethinking Power Trading in Japan
We turn complex data into decisive action in Japan’s power market. As we grow our Japan power trading team in Singapore/Tokyo, we’re looking for a quantitative Power Trading Analyst to build tools, refine forecasts, and translate massive datasets into trading strategies with real PnL impact. As part of the trading team, you’ll create the models and insights that drive decisions — with high ownership, fast feedback loops, and clear accountability for bringing your models to market.
What you’ll do
- Own and improve forecasting models for fundamentals, equilibrium prices, and trading signals
- Transform diverse datasets (market fundamentals, JEPX prices, weather, demand/supply) into robust forecasts and signals
- Build and maintain high-performance tools that link data, analysis, and decision-making
- Collaborate with traders to test and implement strategies that drive measurable results
- Work across trading, technology, and data teams to deliver solutions shaping our edge in Japan’s power market
Your team
You’ll join our growing Japan Power Trading team, based in Singapore or Tokyo. You’ll work side by side with traders, quants, and tech specialists, with direct support from legal and strategy teams across APAC. We move fast, collaborate openly, and keep structures flat so decisions are swift.
What you bring
- Strong Python skills for data wrangling, analysis, and model building
- Solid understanding of time-series modeling and modern ML regression techniques
- MSc in Economics, Math-Econ, Finance, Engineering, or similar quantitative background
- Experience working with large, complex datasets (power, weather, demand-supply, market data)
- Familiarity with Git and collaborative development workflows (branching, versioning, CI/CD)
- Comfort deploying code in shared and platform-based environments
- Practical experience in a power trading operation
- Understanding of stack modeling, imbalance settlement, and market mechanics
- Experience with DevOps or MLOps
- Japanese language skills are a strong advantage
What you can expect
- The chance to shape and grow our Japan power trading franchise
- Direct support from trading, quantitative research, legal, and strategy teams in APAC
- A flat, transparent structure with high ownership
- Cutting-edge tools and data on our EnergyTech platform
- A culture built on honesty, collaboration, and rethinking what’s possible
Benefits
- Flexible working hours with focus on Health & Wellbeing
- Health insurance
- Paid time off
- Meals, snacks, and drinks at the office
- Relocation support for the right candidate
