Rethink Energy Trading.

We call it EnergyTech!

Do you want to start your career in risk management inside a fast-growing energy trading business? Are you excited about combining analytical rigour, curiosity about markets, and a hands-on approach to Python, SQL and AI tools to build something from the ground up? Then, you might be just who we are looking for as our new Junior Risk Analyst at InCommodities APAC.

Since 2017, we have been on a mission to rethink energy trading and organizational culture. At the heart of this lies EnergyTech - a unique fusion of energy trading and technology. Having established a strong presence in Europe and the US, we started our journey into APAC in 2024, with offices now in Singapore, Tokyo, Sydney and Auckland.

What you'll do:

  • Oversee the automated production of the daily and weekly market risk reporting - positions, P/L attribution, VaR, sensitivities and limit utilisation - across our APAC power, gas and environmental products, ensuring it runs smoothly and delivers accurately each day
  • Monitor exposures against mandates and trading limits, investigate exceptions, and report and escalate breaches to the Head of Risk and CFO
  • Support counterparty credit reviews: gather and analyse financial statements, prepare credit scorecards and internal ratings, and draft credit limit recommendations for approval
  • Track counterparty exposure, collateral and margin requirements, and support the CFO on liquidity and margin forecasting
  • Build and maintain risk tools in Python and SQL - automating data pipelines, reporting and reconciliations
  • Apply AI tools and coding assistants, to accelerate analysis, document review and the build-out of internal risk dashboard and tooling
  • Run and help develop stress tests and scenario analysis to simulate the potential impacts of market movements on P/L, cashflow, liquidity and credit exposures
  • Support the maintenance of risk policies, procedures and documentation, and help prepare risk material for management and Board reporting
  • Build a solid understanding of the APAC power, gas and environmental markets so you can engage credibly with our front office teams
  • Support ad-hoc analysis and projects for the Head of Risk and CFO as the APAC business grows

Your team

In this newly established role you will support our Head of Risk and our CFO in the day-to-day running of the risk function across APAC. This is a development role: you will be given real responsibility from the start, with close guidance from the Head of Risk and CFO in Singapore.

You will be working from our office in Singapore and join a group of colleagues who are building our business from scratch with experience and knowledge from our European business. We all have an entrepreneurial mindset and we do what it takes to get tasks done - and we do it together. We are here to advance together and to build a successful business.

What you bring

You probably tick most of these boxes:

  • Have 0-3 years of relevant experience - this could be your first or second role, including internships within risk, trading, banking, audit or corporate finance
  • Hold a tertiary qualification in finance, economics, engineering, mathematics, science or a similar quantitative discipline
  • Have a genuine interest in energy and commodity markets; exposure to power, gas, emissions or renewables is an advantage but not a requirement
  • Have some programming experience, ideally Python and SQL, or a clear aptitude and appetite to learn quickly
  • Are curious about how AI tools can be applied to real workflows, and keen to use them in your day-to-day work
  • Are comfortable with Excel and working with large datasets, and are eager to work with data mining and data analysis
  • Have some exposure to credit or financial statement analysis (an advantage, not a requirement)
  • Have an analytic and logical mindset
  • Are detail-oriented, systematic, and quality-conscious - you understand that risk numbers must be right
  • Take ownership of your work and are comfortable raising your hand when something does not look right
  • Composed under pressure -you deliver accurate work to deadline without losing the detail
  • Are curious and open to different tasks and challenges
  • See opportunities with a can-do attitude where others see obstacles
  • Enjoy working with people and you can effectively interact and build relationships with a variety of global stakeholders

What you can expect

  • A great start-up environment with a high degree of autonomy and flexibility to drive real impact and growth
  • A group that has impressive financial and resourcing support from its European parent company
  • Global collaboration with experienced colleagues across risk management, trading, quantitative research, and analysis
  • A flat organizational structure with distributed decision-making
  • Direct mentoring from our Head of Risk and CFO, and a real opportunity to develop both professionally and personally
  • Close collaboration with colleagues across the entire organization
  • A unique company culture where we live up to our values: Honesty, Transparency, and Rethink
  • An office environment where you don't have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy
  • We’re confident that you won't be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes

Benefits:

  • The opportunity to participate in our annual bonus scheme
  • Flexible working hours and a strong focus on Health & Wellbeing
  • Health insurance
  • Maternity and paternity leave (paid and unpaid options)
  • Paid time off
  • Meals, snacks, and drinks at the office

Redy to Rethink Energy Trading?

If this sounds like you, let’s talk. We’re not your average trading company - and this isn’t your average Software Developer role.

We’re InCommodities Asia-Pacific – and we’re here to rethink energy trading across one of the world’s most dynamic regions.

We're specializing in power trading and asset optimization, and with offices in Tokyo, Singapore, Sydney and Auckland we operate across diverse markets in the region.
Our edge is EnergyTech. We combine market know-how with algorithms, data, and platforms to trade smarter, optimize faster, and scale impact 24/7/365. That's how we balance energy markets and help ensure efficient, secure, and resilient supply across the region.

Established as an autonomous organization in 2024, we’re growing fast and act with the mindset of a startup. Our culture is entrepreneurial, flat, and hands-on. You’ll get autonomy and trust from day one – and the responsibility to make an impact. We value initiative over titles, thrive in change, and are building one of the most ambitious EnergyTech trading setups in Asia-Pacific.

Our culture

We value a strong social community with frequent events outside the office. The work culture is relaxed; you don’t have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy, so you won’t be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes.

Our core values - honesty, transparency, and rethinking - are fundamental to how we engage with each other. Without honesty and transparency, we can't build trust, and trust among team members is the foundation of effective relationships and collaboration, ultimately for achieving better outcomes together. And as for rethinking, it’s deeply rooted in our DNA, pushing us to challenge status quo and continuously develop and innovate.

In other words, InCommodities is not your average workplace – it’s awesome.

An inclusive workplace

Our commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative culture makes InCommodities an exciting place to grow your career. We are dedicated to creating a diverse workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
