Role Description

In this role you will play a pivotal part in building our asset business in Japan, working closely with our APAC team to create value by harnessing InCommodities' strengths in energy trading and technology.

This is an opportunity to be at the forefront of setting up a team in Japan, with significant growth potential in the near future. Since we are in a startup phase, this roles also requires a person who takes a lot of ownership to drive initiatives and the platform forward and who will do what it takes to reach our targets.

We are expanding into the asset space through long-term structured deals, targeting profitable opportunities that align with market trends and our firm’s strategic goals. Our focus spans a range of assets, including renewables, battery storage, conventional generation, demand optimization solutions, and balancing service agreements. We are looking for a professional with a strong track record of taking deals from lead to close, backed by solid market experience and a well-established network. Furthermore, we value the ability to come up with innovative deal structures, especially given the transitions underway in Japan's renewable energy sector.

Responsibilities – you will:

  • Identify and execute asset-based deals across renewables, battery storage, conventional generation, and demand optimization solutions
  • Build, target and develop customer pipeline and maintain strong relationships with stakeholders, including utilities, developers, and investors
  • Monitor market trends, policy changes, and risks to identify profitable opportunities
  • Collaborate with regional and global teams across trading, research, and strategy to align on ventures
  • Represent InCommodities at key industry events to strengthen our presence in Japan

Qualifications – we imagine that you:

  • Have a proven experience originating and closing deals in Japan's power market
  • Have a strong network within the Japanese energy sector, including utilities, developers, and financial institutions
  • Have proficiency in Japanese and English for business communication
  • Have the ability to navigate complex regulatory environments and create innovative deal structures
