Are you ready to take on a pivotal role in shaping the financial operations of a fast-growing global trading company? Do you thrive in dynamic, ambitious environments and want to be part of our journey to expand across the APAC region?

If you are a self-starter excited about taking full ownership of the financial setup in a high-growth business, we want to hear from you! As a Financial Controller, you will be responsible for overseeing all financial matters for our APAC region, with a primary focus on Japan, New Zealand, and Australia - for now, as we expect to grow in the future.

The Journey

Since 2017, we have been on a journey with the clear goal of rethinking energy trading and organizational culture. A core element in this journey is to rethink how data and technology are central parts of our business, and we call this beautiful mix of energy and technology 'EnergyTech.' We have been very successful with our business in Europe and the US, and in 2024, we expanded our journey to APAC with offices in Singapore and Tokyo.

The role

In this role, you will develop a proactive financial controlling and management process. You will ensure compliance with applicable financial regulations by monitoring and analyzing financial developments, drafting reports, and implementing processes. Moreover, you will be an advisor to our business by providing financial guidance and advice on various matters, from standard financial reports to bespoke financial insights.

You will collaborate with various internal teams, including our CFO Office in the EU, to build a finance platform that supports our APAC growth strategy.

The role is Singapore-based.

Responsibilities – you will:

  • Manage and implement financial processes and controls that align with our commercial goals
  • Collaborate closely with the Finance team in Denmark to build local financial capabilities
  • Develop, maintain, and improve financial reporting structures across the APAC region
  • Prepare financial reports, forecasts, and budgets that align with business goals and APAC regulatory requirements
  • Help assess and onboard trading counterparts, ensuring financial compliance
  • Drive continuous improvements in financial processes with a focus on transparency and control
  • Ensure all financial activities comply with APAC region regulations and company policies

Qualifications – we imagine that you:

  • Hold a degree in finance, accounting, or a related field with solid expertise in financial control
  • Have experience in financial controlling, ideally in a trading environment or a start-up setting
  • Have a track record of building financial platforms, structures, and processes from the ground up
  • Are knowledgeable about APAC markets, especially Japan, New Zealand, or Australia (an advantage, but not a requirement)
  • Are familiar with financial reporting, compliance, and regulatory frameworks in the APAC region
  • Can speak Japanese - while not required, this skill is beneficial working with APAC markets

Personal skills – we expect that you:

  • Take responsibility and ownership of your role and tasks from day one
  • Are curious about our culture and will seek information and ask questions to embrace and understand our culture
  • Are organized, efficient, and able to prioritize in a dynamic business environment
  • Are proactive, self-driven, and comfortable owning financial operations in a fast-paced, growth-oriented business
  • Can demonstrate excellent communication skills and confidently share financial insights and advice
  • Are a team player who values collaboration while working independently
  • Can solve complex financial challenges with autonomy and independence

What you can expect from us:

  • The opportunity to build a financial function that is essential to our company's growth in a rapidly expanding business
  • High level of ownership and responsibility from day one
  • A supportive and ambitious team that values honesty, transparency, and bold thinking

At InCommodities Singapore, we embody a startup mindset. Our culture is deeply entrepreneurial, seeking people who thrive in dynamic environments with constant change and a strong focus on continuous improvements.

We operate with a flat organizational structure, fostering autonomy, enabling fast and distributed decision-making processes and encouraging open communication. This approach ensures that innovative ideas can swiftly turn into impactful actions, driving our growth and success.

We value responsibility, initiative and flexibility to exceed defined job descriptions. This ensures that everyone contributes meaningfully and takes ownership which is crucial for driving our growth and adaptability in these early phases of building our APAC presence.

A people-first culture

We value a strong social community with frequent events outside the office. The work culture is relaxed; you don’t have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy, so you won’t be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes.

Our core values - honesty, transparency, and rethinking - are fundamental to how we engage with each other. Without honesty and transparency, we can't build trust, and trust among team members is the foundation of effective relationships and collaboration, ultimately for achieving better outcomes together. And as for rethinking, it’s deeply rooted in our DNA, pushing us to challenge status quo and continuously develop and innovate.

In other words, InCommodities is not your average workplace – it’s awesome.

An inclusive workplace

Our commitment to fostering an inclusive and innovative culture makes InCommodities an exciting place to grow your career. We are dedicated to creating a diverse workplace where everyone feels valued and respected.
