Are you a driven and ambitious team player who wants to become an energy trader in one of the fastest-growing energy trading companies in the world? Do you want a job that allows you to work with data-driven decision-making, develop full automation of the value chain, and be at the forefront of tech-driven energy trading globally? Then, you might be the right match for our Gas Trading team.

We are currently seeking a talented student trader to join our successful short-term gas trading desk. No prior energy trading experience is required – if you bring a positive attitude and an eagerness to learn, we will provide the training and know-how you need.

Your journey as a Student Trader

We apply a learning-by-doing approach to create a steep learning curve, and you will have a high degree of autonomy, which is one of our cornerstones in the organization. You should expect to make your own trading decisions and execute your first trades after only a few weeks of joining the team. But don't worry. We are highly experienced and trade gas in all the main European markets, so we will apply this to help you develop into a world-class, short-term gas trader.

You are expected to work at least 15 hours per week and are welcome to work more. Flexibility is, of course, available when required during exam periods or when otherwise needed.

Responsibilities

  • Trade short-term natural gas contracts on the European markets
  • Optimize the asset portfolio to meet the high expectations for return on investment
  • Participate in the shift rotation – we trade gas 365 days per year, 24/7
  • Ensure physical delivery of all traded gas contracts
  • Oversee algorithmic trade execution on the intraday gas markets
  • Coordinating and aligning strategies with the rest of the gas team
  • Providing transparency regarding market opportunities and operational issues to the team

Qualifications – we imagine that you:

  • Are currently studying a Bachelor's or recently started studying a master's degree in economics, finance, mathematics, physics, or similar
  • Have a natural interest in energy trading, stocks, or similar
  • Have a desire to become the best trader
  • Are fluent in English – both written and oral

Personal skills – we expect that you:

  • Are goal-oriented and driven by results
  • Are decisive and pay attention to details
  • Are proactive with a positive attitude
  • Are people-oriented and can be direct with your colleagues in a constructive way
  • Are a team player who will do what is best for the team and InCommodities
  • Have a natural urge to rethink the status quo

What you can expect from us:

  • An extremely steep learning curve
  • A high degree of autonomy, responsibility, and support
  • A great environment where everyone works towards the same goals and where no one succeeds until everyone succeeds
  • A bunch of great events - both within the team and with the whole organization
  • The opportunity to develop both professionally and personally

We’re InCommodities: One of the fastest growing trading companies in the world. The energy market is transitioning away from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and we take part in making that happen!

At InCommodities, we support the transition by acting as the middleman between sellers and buyers of power and gas - we transport energy across borders where it’s needed, or we store it and sell it later, providing a vital function in the value chain from production to consumption. InCommodities’ business and decision-making are driven by a deep understanding of the energy markets and based on quantitative analysis and rethinking what we do.

Making InCommodities outstanding requires all types of people with different personalities, backgrounds, and approaches to solving different tasks and projects. But one thing connects us: we're fuelled by new ideas and rethinking the status quo.

Our Culture

We value a strong social culture with a high frequency of employee events outside the office. We want to win and be the best in class – therefore, you'll be surrounded by like-minded people who are bold, honest, ambitious, and the smartest in their field, and who root for one another, as we value a genuine sense of team spirit.

To help each other grow, we use honest and constructive feedback and sparring within and across teams. Personality and cultural fit are important to us because we want you to be happy here. The work culture is relaxed; you don’t have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy, so you won’t be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes.

In other words, InCommodities is not your average workplace – it’s awesome.
